Nobody Told the Squirrel

As an early Mother's Day gift, I bought my wife a "squirrel-

proof" bird feeder. The design was truly ingenious. The feeder was a rectangular box with multiple feeding stations--essentially, little holes for seed to drop into next to perches. The seed was gravity fed into the holes.

The real "kicker" was that the outside of the box would slide down and cover the holes if anything heaver than a small bird steped on any of the perches. It was brilliant! Literally!

But nobody told the squirrels.

Or at least one large little pest we have in our backyard. Within a few hours of my installation of the feeder, we found him hanging upside down from the top of the feeder, eating the seed without putting any weight on the perches. My wife, always a good sport, laughed and took several pictures of his clever, acrobatic performance.

This made me think. What "impossible" things might I achieve if I, like that squirrel, was just too dumb to know that they were, well, "impossible?"

I like the Apostle Paul's attitude. In Philippians 4:13, he says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Obviously, the "all things" don't include things outside the will of God. Still, many "impossible" things ARE within His will and our ability through Him should we pursue them.

So my new goal--to be like a squirrel who is successful in his ignorance of the amazing technology designed to be "squirrel-proof." I want to accomplish "all things" Christ has in store for me.
